Encounters part 9: Jesus & the Children

Jesus has multiple encounters with children during his ministry, and both times he tells adults that we should be more like them. Their faith, innocence, and sense of adventure are things that Jesus want us all to have. Let's look a bit deeper at these encounters and what we can learn.

Encounters part 8: Peter's Call

Have you ever thought, "God is the all-powerful creator of the universe. He doesn't need me to do anything for Him." You're right! He doesn't need you...but He wants you to be a part of what He's doing. Let's learn more about this by looking one of the first encounters Peter ever has with Jesus.

Encounters part 7: Take Up Your Cross

In Luke chapter 9, Jesus tells the crowd of people that they have to take up their cross to truly follow Him.
Do we follow him with everything and all the time, or do we flex & choose what areas we want to follow Him in?

Encounters part 6: The Adulteress

John chapter 8 has an intense encounter between Jesus, the religious leaders, and a woman who was caught in the act of adultery. 
We see two very different responses to this woman's sin. Let's see what we can learn from them.

Encounters part 5: The Tax Collector

In Luke chapter 5 Jesus has an interesting encounter with a tax collector & his friends, and a group of religious leaders that we can learn a lot from about how Jesus sees people. 

Leaving A Legacy

Wouldn’t it be amazing to leave a legacy of faith in the next generation? As mothers (fathers, grandparents, or even influences in your kid’s friend's lives), we have the opportunity to point the young people in our lives toward Jesus. At the end of our lives, let it be said of us that we had faith, lived it out, and passed it on to those around us.

Encounters part 4: A Man with Leprosy

Imagine having a disease so contagious and so deadly that you were exiled from any populated area and no one would even get anywhere near you. Now imagine a person who loved you so much that they didn't care about all that: They were willing to be close to you, talk to you, and even touch you. That's what Jesus does for a man in this week's encounter.

Encounters part 3: The Interruption

What can we learn from a woman who interrupts another miracle Jesus is on his way to? Her interruption inadvertently causes a little girl to die because the miracle was too late in coming... Or was it?

Encounters part 2: John the Baptist

John the Baptist sends his disciples to ask a question that shows John's struggle with Jesus not meeting his expectations. We all have things that we struggle with when it comes to what Jesus teaches, does, or does not do. Jesus tells John not to let those things cause him to stumble. Do we have expectations of Jesus, maybe that we don't even realize, that are causing us to stumble?

Encounters part 1: The Woman at the Well

The encounter that the woman at the well had with Jesus revealed a deep issue that plagues us all. We are all searching for something that will satisfy us and fill us up. Jesus tells the woman about the only thing that will satisfy each and every one of us.
